Gold for Moldova at Ne-Waza European Judo Championships

Athletes from the Republic of Moldova achieved remarkable results at the first edition of Ne-Waza European Judo Championships, a competition dedicated exclusively to ground fighting. Alexandru Moraru won the title of European champion in the under-66 kg weight category, while two other Moldovan athletes also reached the podium.

The competition is taking place on 29–30 August in Riga, Latvia, and is organized by the European Judo Union (EJU). It is the first edition of Ne-Waza European Judo Championships, a discipline that focuses on ground-fighting techniques.

According to the Judo Federation of the Republic of Moldova, Alexandru Moraru delivered an excellent performance and became the first European Ne-Waza champion in the history of this competition, winning the gold medal in the 66 kg category.

In the same category, Vadim Bunescu won the bronze medal. Another representative of the Republic of Moldova, Cornel Andries, finished in 7th place in the 81 kg category.

Good results were also recorded at junior level. Alexandru Tuzlucov won the bronze medal in the 66 kg category. The same athlete also reached the podium in the cadet competition, earning the bronze medal in the 73 kg category.

The delegation of the Republic of Moldova concludes the first edition of Championships with one continental title and three bronze medals.
