Free economic zones in Taraclia, Vulcăneşti, Soroca to have urban plans
Chisinau, 28 October /MOLDPRES/- The Free Economic Zones (ZEL) Taraclia, Vulcănești and Soroca subzone of the Ungheni ZEL will have urban development plans. They were developed within the project Advising the Government of the Republic of Moldova on economic policies, implemented by the Agency for International Cooperation of Germany (GIZ) in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy, with the financial support of the Governments of Germany and Switzerland.
A master plan includes a feasibility study and a territorial development plan. They also contain topographic and geological studies, a development plan with regulations and zoning arrangements, on-site infrastructure networks (such as water, sewerage, gas and electricity) etc.
According to Vadim Gumene, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Economy, "urban development plans are an important step in stimulating the investment attractiveness of locations by offering potential developers and investors of platforms equipped with basic infrastructure, such as access roads, aqueduct and sewerage, gasification and electricity ".
Thus, the plans will help to optimize the costs for the initial infrastructure investments. The potential investor will no longer have to invest time and money in evaluating platforms, conducting surveys or investigating the availability of utilities.
Previously, similar plans were set up for the Comrat and Ceadâr-Lunga subzones of the Vulcănești ZEL, the Cahul subzone of the Bălți ZEL, the Călărași subzone of the Ungheni ZEL.
