German foreign affairs minister in Chisinau says Germany stays firm supporter of Moldova's European path
Germany's Foreign Affairs Minister Johann Wadephul today paid a visit to Chisinau, during which he gave a press statement in the center of the capital. The German official reaffirmed Germany's unconditional support for Moldova, especially in the context of its European path and current regional challenges.
"Germany stands by Moldova in its efforts to reform, modernize and get closer to the European Union," Wadephul said.
He emphasized that the German support targeted such essential as energy security, economic development, strengthening the rule of law and supporting civil society.
"It's time to further strengthen our ties. Moldova is on the European path and we will continue to collaborate to support this way," the minister noted.
The visit to Moldova by the German foreign minister follows a trip to Kyiv, where the German official condemned Russia's attempt to force Ukraine's surrender. In Chisinau, Wadephul reiterated that Moldova was a strategic partner for Berlin, and its stability is of major interest for the entire Europe.
The agenda of Minister Johann Wadephul included a visit to the Birth of God Cathedral from Chisinau and a meeting with the country's religious leaders. The discussions focused on bilateral cooperation, political and economic support and the regional security situation.
The German diplomacy head will have a supper with President Maia Sandu at the State Residence.
