Chisinau, 10 February /MOLDPRES/ - The building of the History and Ethnography Museum from the central Calarasi town has been illuminated architecturally with the support provided by the European Union. The system was officially set forking at a festive event on 9 February.

The goal of the installation is to turn to account the architecture of the museum’s building at night, the building’s artistic and cultural value, which will enhance the tourist attractiveness of the Calarasi town. The works were carried out within a project implemented with the financial support of the European Union. The project was carried out by the Calarasi mayoralty, in partnership with the Viitorul (Future) Institute for Development and Social Initiatives.

„The support provided by the European Union yields positive results for the benefit of Moldova’s citizens. Among the most tangible results in Calarasi, we can note the modernization of the public illumination in the town and stadium, architectural illumination for the museum, enhanced expertise for the local administration and a better awareness by the local residents as to the energy efficiency. These results will bring benefits to the residents and visitors of Calarasi, through the cutting of the CO2 emissions, lower operational costs and increased effort and safety at night,’’ European Union’s Ambassador to Moldova Peter Michalko said.

According to the authorities, the architectural illumination of the History and Ethnography Museum is particularly important, as starting from 2017, the Calarasi town has been part of a national tourist route.

The architectural illumination of the History and Ethnography Museum from the Calarasi town cost 145,000 lei and the energy consumption decreased by 30 per cent against January 2020.

The project on the optimization of the public illumination in the Calarasi town is implemented by the Calarasi mayoralty, in partnership with the Viitorul Institute. The project is financed by the European Union, through the EU Programme 'Covenant of Mayors – Demonstration Projects' (CoM-DeP) - part of the EU4Energy.
