
Day of Maestro Eugen Doga's funeral to be declared National Day of Mourning; President Maia Sandu: ''We say goodbye with pain, but also with gratitude''
The day of Maestro Eugen Doga's funeral will be declared a National Day of Mourning. President Maia Sandu has sent a message of condolences to the family and the entire nation, who loved and will always carry the composer Eugen Doga in their hearts.
The head of state underlined that she had learned with sadness about the death of Eugen Doga.
“I grew up with the songs from the film 'Maria Mirabela' and cried listening to the music from 'Lăutarii'. We carry the famous waltz from My Sweet and Tender Beast with us everywhere and recognize the master's compositions from the first notes,” said Maia Sandu.
The official noted that Moldova was more beautiful and richer thanks to the great composer.
“We say goodbye with pain, but also with gratitude. To pay tribute to the great Eugen Doga, the day of the funeral will be declared a National Day of Mourning. Sincere condolences to the family and the entire nation, who loved him and will always carry him in their hearts,” said Maia Sandu.
Maestro Eugen Doga, one of the most esteemed and beloved composers of Moldova and the European cultural space, passed away at the age of 88 today.
His music conquered millions of listeners and accompanied large-scale international cultural events. Until the last years of his life, Eugen Doga participated in meetings with students, spoke about the beauty of music and encouraged young people to pursue their artistic dreams.
