
Moldovan PM, more European officials in Brussels discuss security, support integration in European Union
Prime Minister Dorin Recean, during an official visit to Brussels, has had a string of meetings with high-ranking European officials. The discussions focused on deepening bilateral cooperation in essential areas, such as security, financial support and the European Union accession process.
The necessary measures to strengthen institutional capacities for ensuring a fair electoral process were analyzed at a meeting with Magnus Brunner, European Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration. Also, the sides emphasized the importance of collaboration to prevent hybrid interference and illegal financing in the context of the next September parliamentary elections. The two officials also discussed cooperation in the cybersecurity sector.
At the meeting with Manfred Weber, leader of the European People's Party (EPP) Group in the European Parliament, the PM tackled topics on Moldova's European path and the strengthening of democracy. In the context of the parliamentary elections and the boosting of disinformation campaigns, the officials highlighted the importance of strong support on behalf of from the European Parliament. The prime minister expressed gratitude for the constant support provided by the EPP, including support for the implementation of Moldova's Growth Plan.
At a meeting with the Director General of the Directorate-General for Energy and Sustainability (ENEST), Gert Jan Koopman, the PM discussed the next steps in the implementation of the Growth Plan and initiatives aimed at attracting investments in the priority sectors of the national economy.
