Moldovan PM says Drochia district clear example Moldova on right path - of development, modernization
The Drochia district is a clear example that Moldova is on the right path—a path of development and modernization that we must continue, said Prime Minister Dorin Recean today.
During a working visit to the aforementioned district, the PM said that "the government has invested 3 times more in the development of localities than in the past 10 years combined."
"These things show us that we can build a European future here at home. Together, we care for Moldova's future!" said Recean.
Thanks to the good collaboration with local authorities and communities’ support, in recent years, within the European Village programme alone, 51 projects have been implemented in the Drochia district with a total value of 170 million lei:
• 66 km of water pipeline, 4 artesian wells, 7 water towers, 1 pumping station, and 4 water treatment stations are already completed.
• 23 million lei has been invested in the district's medical institutions: the Drochia District Hospital has been modernized and equipped with an oxygen station, anesthesia and surgery devices, medical beds and an electric generator. The Therapy and Geriatrics Department has been modernized. The pre-hospital emergency service has been repaired and has 5 new ambulances. Five gynecological offices have been opened in rural areas. The Family Physician's Office in Popestii de Sus is fully renovated. The Pelinia Health Center, Drochia district, has been equipped with high-performance medical equipment.
• Seven million lei is invested in modernizing schools and kindergartens: the roofs of the gymnasiums in Mindic and Suri have been renovated, as well as the kindergarten in Dominteni. A nursery group was created in the city of Drochia. Four schools and six kindergartens have been equipped with furniture, equipment and teaching materials. Two schools in the city of Drochia—Mihai Eminescu and B.P. Hasdeu—will undergo energy efficiency improvements. The Mihai Eminescu Theoretical Lyceum is becoming a Model School—one of the 35 selected nationwide. Schools in Popestii de Sus and Pelinia will have modern sanitary blocks.
• Important roads connecting communities have been renovated and repaired: the road Zgurita – Popestii de Jos.
• Popestii de Sus, the bridge over Raut, which connects localities to the district center. The road connecting Tarigrad to Drochia is almost complete.
• Thirteen million lei is invested in repairing 3 road sections under the project Europe is Close.
• A number 491 families in the Drochia district have used vouchers to purchase household appliances, and 7 individual houses and 14 public institutions have benefited from financial aid for installing energy-saving technologies or energy rehabilitation works for housing.
