Agreement signed in Chisinau; Moldova, Iceland to operate direct flights
Moldova and Iceland will operate direct flights. Deputy Prime Minister, Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Vladimir Bolea and Warsaw-based Ambassador of Iceland to Moldova Fridrik Jónsson today signed the Agreement on Air Services between the governments of the two states.
The document establishes the regulatory framework for bilateral air services and includes provisions on aviation security, applicable charges, as well as the recognition of airworthiness and competency certificates. At the same time, the agreement regulates operating rights, the designation and authorization of airlines.
"The development of air traffic between the two states will contribute to the expansion of the air services market of Moldova and to the diversification of destinations operated from the Chisinau International Airport," emphasized the Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry.
At the same time, the agreement will facilitate access to the Icelandic market and will generate economic benefits, by increasing passenger traffic and strengthening the competitiveness of the national aviation sector.
