VIDEO // Moldovan deputy PM for European integration says Moldova ready to open EU accession negotiations

Moldova is ready to open the accession negotiations with the European Union, a fact confirmed both by European institutions and the Moldovan authorities. Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov made statements to this effect today.

The official emphasized that efforts to launch the negotiations continued both at the national and European levels.

“We want to assure you that all colleagues from the European institutions, as well as the ones here at home are making efforts, so that the negotiations are opened as soon as possible. This concerns both the first group of chapters, Cluster I, and the others, since both the European Commission and the Council have confirmed that our country is ready to open them,” said Cristina Gherasimov after a today’s cabinet meeting.

The support for advancing the accession process has also been reconfirmed by the European Parliament. Following a meeting held in Brussels with the vice presidents and the heads of the Moldovan parliament’s standing commissions, MEP Siegfried Muresan said that the European legislature supported the opening of accession negotiations on all clusters.

In the context of consolidating the European path of Moldova, European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos will pay an official visit to Moldova on June 4-6. The visit’s agenda includes participation in the first EU–Moldova Investment Conference, the opening of the Moldova Digital Summit 2026 and trips to more localities across the country.
