Moldovan citizens working in Ireland to receive pensions for years worked in both countries
Citizens of the Republic of Moldova who work or have worked in Ireland will be able to receive pensions, taking into account the insurance periods completed in both countries, under the future Social Security Agreement between the two countries.
The Government approved the initiation of negotiations and the signing of the Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and Ireland, which aims to protect the pension rights of citizens who have worked in both countries.
Thus, people who have worked in Ireland will be able to claim their pension rights even after returning to the Republic of Moldova, once the Agreement enters into force.
The Republic of Moldova has signed 23 social security agreements, 19 of which are already in effect. In recent years, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection has significantly expanded this number by concluding agreements with Italy, Greece, Spain, Latvia, France, Switzerland, Canada and Ukraine.
About 30,000 Moldovan citizens are currently living in Ireland.
