Prime Minister: Each stage in negotiations with EU means stronger institutions, better public services and broader opportunities for citizens
Each stage that the Republic of Moldova goes through in the negotiation process with the European Union means stronger institutions, better public services, and more opportunities for citizens. The statement was made by Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu upon his return from his visit to Luxembourg, where the opening of negotiations with the European Union on Cluster 1 – Fundamental Values took place.
“Each stage that we go through in the negotiations means stronger institutions, better public services, and more opportunities for our citizens. We have passed, I believe, roughly the midpoint of the marathon; we have not reached the finish line, it will still take some time, but we have already covered a good part of the road we wanted and for which our citizens voted,” said Munteanu at the beginning of today’s Government meeting.
He noted that, going forward, Chișinău authorities must make consolidated efforts to advance reforms.
“We are already part of the European family. (...) Going forward, we still have many things to do,” emphasized Munteanu, who thanked all those responsible who contributed, through their work, to achieving the expected results in the context of the European integration process.
Negotiations with the European Union on Cluster 1 – Fundamental Values were opened on Monday, June 15, during the Intergovernmental Conference Republic of Moldova – European Union, held in Luxembourg.
