Goods' exports increase in Moldova in first four months of 2026: EU strengthens position as main trading partner

Moldova’s goods exports totaled 1.1 billion euros during January–April, the year, up by 10.9 percent compared to the same period of 2025. The European Union has strengthened its position as the country’s main trading partner, accounting for 62.5 percent of total exports.

According to data by the National Statistics Bureau (BNS), exports of goods to European Union countries amounted to 698.6 million euros (by 12.1 per cent more against the same period of 2025), holding a share of 62.5 per cent in total exports, 0.6 percentage points higher than in January–April 2025.

On the other hand, exports of goods to the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries reached 67.7 million euros, equivalent to a share of 6 per cent of total exports, down by 0.4 percentage points compared to January–April 2025.

The main destination countries for goods exports were: Romania (27.2 per cent of total exports), Turkey, Italy, Czechia, Ukraine and Germany.

In the structure of exports, significant shares were held by the following groups of goods: oil seeds and oleaginous fruits, machinery and electrical equipment, cereals, vegetables and fruits, clothing and accessories, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, furniture, metal ores and metal waste, vegetable fats and oils.

BNS data also shows that, in January–April 2026, imports of goods totaled 3,365.2 million euros, up by 5.7 per cent against the similar period of 2025.
