Second day of diaspora voting for Romanian presidential elections ends with new record in Moldova, with over 75,000 voters participating

The polling stations opened in the Republic of Moldova for the Romanian presidential elections closed today at 9:00 PM, marking the end of the second day of voting. Voters in our country were among the most active, reaching a new record of 75,000 people present at the polls over Friday and Saturday. The voting process will continue on Sunday, May 18.

For comparison, in the first round of the Romanian presidential elections, about 91,000 Moldovans with Romanian citizenship voted over three days.

According to real-time data provided by the Permanent Electoral Authority of Romania, a total of over 700,000 voters had cast their votes in the 965 polling stations opened abroad by Saturday at 9:00 PM (Romanian time). Additionally, 3,139 voters voted by mail, with the total votes cast abroad currently at 706,637.

The most Romanian voters participated in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland - 118,369, Italy - 114,264, Germany - 111,170, Spain - 82,073, Republic of Moldova - 74,952, France - 35,690, Ireland - 10,959, USA - 10,778, and Canada - 8,680.

For the Romanian presidential elections, 64 polling stations were opened in the Republic of Moldova. These will remain operational on Sunday, May 18. Thus, in the Northern region of the country, 18 polling stations are organized, in the Central region - 38 polling stations, of which 20 are in Chișinău, and in the Southern region - 8 polling stations.
