Today in Chișinău, we are making history! – Former Minister's message on first official summit Moldova – European Union
“Today in Chișinău, we are making history!” – declared former Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu in the context of the official summit Republic of Moldova – European Union.
Nicu Popescu sees the event as clear evidence of European support and a confirmation that our integration path is appreciated and supported by European partners.
“This summit is not just about declarations, but about our European future – about trust, mutual support, and concrete steps towards accession,” stated Popescu.
In his message, the former minister explained what EU membership means, in his view: peace, prosperity, modern infrastructure, quality hospitals and schools, fair justice, and real opportunities for all citizens.
“It is essential not to stray from this path. Our future is European, and Europe awaits us with open arms. Europe means the chance to live without fear, in a democratic and prosperous society,” Nicu Popescu mentioned.
Nicu Popescu held the position of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration on 6 August 2021 - 29 January 2024.
