Moldova's Customs Service identifies unpaid taxes exceeding 3 million lei following last week's audits
The Customs Service identified additional customs obligations amounting to over 3.1 million lei, following inspections conducted during June 23-July 4.
According to the Customs Service, the audits revealed several infringements of the customs legislation, including incorrect tariff classification of imported goods with reduced customs duties applied; non-compliance with the final destination for goods introduced into the country based on tax and customs facilities; reduced customs value due to the omission of declaring essential components of the real value.
As a result of the voluntary compliance of three economic agents which requested the removal of goods from customs supervision, the Customs Service recalculated the corresponding import duties and avoided applying harsher penalties.
The institution calls on individuals and legal entities to comply with the current legislation and prove transparency in customs declarations.
At the same time, the Customs Service reminds that economic operators can be exempted from material liability, if they notify the authority in writing about committed infringements before their discovery and fully pay the customs obligations and related penalties.
