Hydrological warning: yellow, red codes for low water runoff on rivers in Moldova; authorities provide recommendations
The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) has issued a hydrological warning, valid on July 5–8, 2025, regarding a low water runoff on the rivers in Moldova.
According to the cited source, some hydrographic sectors have recorded values well below the multi-annual monthly averages, leading to the issuance of yellow and red hydrological hazard codes.
Specialists say the red code refers to a water runoff less than or equal to 15% of the norm, while the yellow code indicates a runoff level below 50%.
The warning targets the entire territory of Moldova, with major impact in areas fed by small waters.
In the context of this situation, authorities recommend that the population and economic agents use water resources rationally, in order to avoid the negative effects of reduced river flows on economic and agricultural activities.
Specialists continue to monitor the evolution of the situation.
