Moldovan foreign affairs minister has meeting with Italian Ambassador at end of mandate
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popsoi has had a farewell meeting with Italian Ambassador Lorenzo Tomassoni, who is ending his mandate in Chisinau.
During the discussion, the Moldovan diplomacy head expressed gratitude for the ambassador's significant contribution to deepening the Moldovan-Italian relations, highlighting the support provided to promoting the Agreement on Social Security and to the opening of the office of the Italian Agency for Cooperation and Development in Moldova’s capital.
Both officials highlighted the close cooperation between the two countries, especially in the context of supporting Moldova's European path and managing recent regional crises.
A milestone of the mandate was the historic visit of President Sergio Mattarella, in June 2024, the first official visit of an Italian head of state to Chisinau.
At the end of the meeting, Minister Mihai Popsoi wished the ambassador success in the continuation of his diplomatic career and expressed confidence that the relations between the two countries would witness continuous and dynamic development.
