Moldova strengthens cooperation with Poland
Chisinau hosted the seventh meeting of the Moldovan-Polish intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, an event that brought together representatives of ministries and governmental agencies from the Republic of Moldova and Poland. The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations in key areas such as economy, investment, agriculture, energy, environment, tourism, and infrastructure.
During the plenary session, State Secretary for Transport at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development (MIDR) Mircea Păscăluță presented Moldova's priorities for modernizing infrastructure and digitizing the transport sector, highlighting opportunities for technical and institutional cooperation with Poland.
Cooperation areas agreed in the infrastructure sector include organizing the Joint Committee for Road Transport meeting in Warsaw in July; exchanging best practices regarding digitization of transport and road operations control; support for obtaining special CEMT authorization quotas for Moldovan carriers; cooperation between the Naval Agency of the Republic of Moldova and the Polish Register of Shipping; assistance for the liberalization of rail transport; continuation of dialogue for extending the EU-RM road transport agreement, explains MIDR.
The meeting also provided a platform for sectoral dialogue on topics of common interest, such as the development of entrepreneurship and SMEs; energy security and green transition; sustainable agriculture and environmental protection.
The meetings concluded with the signing of an official protocol, which consolidates the established collaboration directions, as well as a cooperation agreement in agriculture, aimed at boosting the exchange of experience and best practices between the relevant institutions of the two countries.
According to the authorities, this meeting reaffirms the firm commitment of the Republic of Moldova and Poland to deepen bilateral partnership and support the European path of the Republic of Moldova through concrete economic and institutional development projects.
