Almost 1,000 graduates of Nicolae Testemitanu Medical University of Moldova take Oath of Physician and Pharmacist

Almost 1,000 young graduates of the Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF) took the Oath of Physician and Pharmacist today. The solemn ceremony was held at the Chisinau Arena and was attended by the country's leadership, faculty members and the families of the future physicians and pharmacists.

The ceremony began with a parade of the graduates' countries' flags, symbolizing the international nature of the institution and the medical community it forms.

At the opening of the festivity, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu congratulated the young people who had chosen to study in Moldova. He emphasized that investments in the healthcare system represented a priority for the authorities.

‘’In recent years, the state has invested over three billion lei in this sector. We invest in modern equipment, renovate departments of different profiles, modernize and equip maternity hospitals, and do what hasn't been done for many years. But all these investments are of no value without you, the physicians. You, dear future doctors, represent the true investment, you are the healthcare system, you are the pillar of a healthy Moldova,’’ the speaker noted.

He also expressed hope that the vast majority of graduates would stay to work in Moldova. 'We will continue to move firmly towards the European Union, so that, in a few years, we can increase investments in our hospitals, in the most modern and high-performance equipment, because we care about our people's health,’’ Grosu also said.

USMF Emil Ceban, stressed that, starting from today, the graduates became members of the medical community of Moldova and their home countries.

'By taking the Oath, you commit to caring for the health and welfare of an entire society, which places its hopes in your physical and moral health,’’ Ceban said.

Health Minister Ala Nemerenco also addressed the young audience. She congratulated the graduates for their vocational choice and dedication proved throughout their studies.

'Today, you are marking not only the end of an important phase, but are embarking on a journey where you will be alongside people in their most vulnerable moments. I urge you to do your work with responsibility and contribute with dignity to strengthening the healthcare system,’’ Nemerenco said.

Attending the event, Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun delivered a congratulatory message to the graduates, highlighting their essential role in strengthening the medical system.

'Today is not just a day of ending, but also one of beginning. After intense studies, numerous exams, sleepless nights and exhausting internships, this is the first day you can proudly say: 'I am a physician.' But your journey in this profession is just beginning. You have chosen one of the most noble and challenging professions in the world. Medicine is not just about science, diagnosis or treatment—but, above all, it means trust. People who come to you put their lives in your hands. They offer you their blind trust, because you are the ones who know what to do when no one else does. Dear graduates, congratulations to you, your parents and all those who supported and guided you on this path. We wish you courage, patience and honor. Moldova needs you,’’ the minister said.
