Grigore Tamblac University from Taraclia to be turned into branch of Angel Kanchev University of Bulgaria

The Grigore Tamblac State University from Taraclia will become a branch of the Angel Kanchev University from Ruse, Bulgaria. The government has approved a decision to this end.

Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun said that, with this change, students studying at this university would receive European diplomas upon graduation.

“In the key of modernizing our higher education system, an important change is the involvement, for the first time, of a European university in managing and essentially taking over a university from Moldova. I mean the Grigore Tamblac University of Taraclia, which once this government decision is approved, will become a subsidiary, branch of the Ruse University, Bulgaria. This means that students who will study at this university and those who are currently studying will have European diplomas upon graduation,” said Minister Dan Perciun.

The minister also said that, in recent years, the authorities from Bulgaria had made significant investments, worth one million euros, for the modernization of this higher education institution.

“We, on behalf of the state Republic of Moldova, will maintain control over the properties of the Grigore Tamblac University and will continue to fund budget spots for students who will make their studies at this educational institution. This is an important step, in order to make sure that we have competitive universities in the territory,” said the minister.

“It is very good news for Bulgarians of Moldova, for the entire southern region of   Moldova, as well as for the education system in general,” emphasized Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

The Grigore Tamblac State University from Taraclia was established in 2004.
