Citizens of Gagauzia can request mobile ballot box for regional elections

Voters of Gagauzia who for health-related or other valid reasons, cannot go to the polling station may request to vote at their location using a mobile ballot box during the regional elections on November 15.

According to the Central Electoral Commission, applications must be submitted in writing to the electoral bureau of the polling station, starting two weeks before election day and until November 14 at 2:00 p.m. On election day, the electoral bureau may approve applications until 2:00 p.m., only upon presentation of a medical certificate or medical note.

Voters who cannot personally submit the application may send it through a family member, social worker or, where applicable, a community social assistant. The application must be completed personally by the voter and accompanied by a copy of their identity document and, where applicable, documents justifying the request.

Applications may also be submitted to the official email address of the electoral bureau with an electronic signature.

On election day, at least two members of the electoral bureau, designated by its chairperson, will travel to the voter's location with the mobile ballot box and the materials necessary to exercise the right to vote.

The elections for the position of governor (bashkan) of Gagauzia and for the 35 seats in the autonomy's People's Assembly will take place on November 15. Eight candidates have been registered for the position of bashkan, while 135 people are competing for the seats of deputies. The elections will be held at 67 polling stations in 35 single-member electoral constituencies. The electoral campaign began on October 16 and will end on November 13.
