Chișinău, 30 October 2026 – More than 60 students from five educational institutions in Chișinău and Durlești participated in the seventh edition of the educational game LAW for YOU(th), simulating a plenary session of Parliament. Taking on the roles of MPs, the young people drafted and debated three bills on current issues, experiencing how arguments are developed, decisions are made, and voting procedures are conducted in Parliament.

Students from Ginta Latină, Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra and Hyperion theoretical high schools examined legislative proposals concerning the protection of minors on social media, the use of artificial intelligence in educational institutions, and the recognition and use of sign language in the Republic of Moldova. Following the debates and the vote, two bills were adopted as part of the simulation.

The activity gave students the opportunity to defend their opinions, analyze their peers’ arguments, and understand that adopting a law involves examining different perspectives and taking responsibility for the final decision. Students from Mihail Kogălniceanu Theoretical High School and Prometeu-Protalent Lyceum of Creativity and Innovation in Chișinău also attended the event. They will participate in the next edition of the educational game, scheduled for November.

The participants were welcomed by Tamara Gheorghița, Deputy Secretary General of Parliament, who praised the young people’s interest in public life and the teachers’ involvement in their civic education. “We are pleased that more and more educational institutions are showing interest in the educational game ‘LAW for YOU(th)’ and that you are interested in what is happening around you. You are the future of the country, and preparing you to become involved in the life of society is important to all of us,” Tamara Gheorghița said.

At the end of the activity, the students visited the Military History Museum, where they took part in an interactive history lesson and discovered exhibits illustrating important moments and developments in military history.

The LAW for YOU(th) educational game is organized by the Secretariat of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Research and the Strengthening Parliamentary Democracy in Moldova project (PADEM). The initiative gives young people the opportunity to understand, through direct experience, how Parliament and the legislative process work, contributing to the development of critical thinking, argumentation and negotiation skills, as well as encouraging civic participation.
