Moldova, Greece prepare new projects under Memorandum of cultural cooperation
New joint projects in the field of culture, the attraction of European and international funding and the strengthening of cooperation within UNESCO and the Council of Europe are among the priorities pursued by Moldova and Greece. Culture Minister Dan Suruceanu and Ambassador of Greece to Moldova Nikolaos Krikos have discussed topics to this effect, in the context of implementing the Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of culture.
The memorandum, which focuses on cooperation in the areas of cultural heritage, museums and archaeology, provides a framework for exchanges of experience, training sessions and workshops for specialists, as well as for the development of joint initiatives. During the meeting, the sides also considered possibilities of benefiting from Greece’s experience in protecting and restoring heritage.
Another topic was identifying funding opportunities for cultural projects through European and international programmes. At the same time, the officials discussed strengthening cooperation between the two countries within UNESCO and the Council of Europe.
The discussions also took place in the context of the visit by a delegation from the Hellenic Republic to Moldova, paid on June 2-7, 2026. The visit included exchanges of experience and best practices among specialists, teaching staff and students in the culture sector.
Dan Suruceanu emphasized the need for cultural relations between Moldova and Greece to result in joint projects and initiatives based on the exchange of expertise and experience.
