State Secretary of the Government for Reintegration Ivan Turcan today paid a working visit to Tiraspol, Bender and Varnita, accompanied by representatives of the Reintegration Policies Bureau and the Education and Research Ministry. The visit aimed to identify the needs of educational institutions and solutions for improving residents’ access to quality public services in the Transnistrian region.

At the Lucian Blaga Theoretical Lyceum in Tiraspol, the Alexandru cel Bun Theoretical Lyceum and the Gymnasium in Bender, discussions with the institutions’ administrations focused on the current situation, the challenges encountered and the interventions needed to ensure a quality educational process. The participants examined support needs related to improving study conditions, equipping educational spaces and facilitating access for students and teaching staff at these institutions.

The “Moldsilva” Agency building in the city of Bender was also visited. The building has been proposed for the establishment of a family doctors’ centre and spaces for the provision of social services, which would benefit residents of Bender and Tiraspol, as well as the ones of neighbouring localities. The initiative, promoted through the Convergence Fund, was welcomed at the local level, including during discussions with the management of the primary healthcare institution from Varnita. Its contribution to facilitating beneficiaries’ access to medical services and reducing the travel and expenses incurred by citizens was highlighted.

At the Bender Police Inspectorate, the results of the modernization of a police station were examined. Through the 2026 Programme of Activities for the Reintegration of the Country, 900,000 lei was allocated for this purpose, in order to ensure more accessible and higher-quality services. At the Varnita branch of the Office of the People’s Advocate, discussions addressed the human rights situation in the region, issues reported by citizens and ways to cooperate in protecting rights and facilitating access to national assistance mechanisms.
