National Library of Moldova inaugurates anniversary exhibition dedicated to Russian writer

Chisinau, 10 September /MOLDPRES/ – A book exhibition entitled "The war and the world forever – Lev Nikolaevich Tolstoy 190 years from birth" was opened today at the National Library of Moldova (BNM).
The event is part of the National Programme "LECTURACENTRAL", organised by the institution during September in collaboration with the National Library for Children Ion Creanga, libraries of all types, local public authorities (APL), with the support of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (MECC), a programme of a new dimension to the promotion of books and reading.
Interviewed by agency, principal specialist in the World Literature Service of BNM, Aliona Stratan, has mentioned that the exhibition features the works of Lev Tolstoy in the original language and translations (including the choreographies and volumes of "Complete Works (Jubilee Edition) in 90 of volumes, edited in Moscow in 1928 – 1958), illustrative materials, monographs, literary criticism works, books on the life and creation of the writer, his philosophical, religious and pedagogical visions.
The prose writer, essayist, moralist, reformer in the field of education, Lev Tolstoy is the central figure of the Russian prose of the XIXth century. He was born in Iasnaia Poliana, Tula region, Russia, on 09 September 1828. He debuted in 1852 with the autobiographical sketch "Childhood", followed by "Adolescence" and "Youth", a trilogy, "Cossacks", "Stories from Sevastopol", novels "War and Peace", "Anna Karenina", "The Resurrection", novel "The Death of Ivan Ilici", song "The Living Body". He died on 20 November 1910.
The exhibition is open until 30 September.
