Moldovan government announces stance following information on changing shareholder of Avia Invest company
Chisinau, 29 August /MOLDPRES/- The Moldovan government has come up with more details about the latest information on change of shareholder of Avia Invest company, holder of the concession contract of the Chisinau International Airport.
According to the government, “Prime Minister Maia Sandu and the government were informed post-factum about the signing of the procurement contract for 95% of Avia Invest shares by NR Investments company and only after this was announced publicly. ”
"The government was not informed or consulted about the intention of NR Investments Ltd to buy Komaksavia Airport Invest Ltd, which owns 95% of Avia Invest, and about the completion of the purchase process. There was no consultation between the government and NR Investments Ltd ”, the government statement reads.
Sandu and Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Vadim Brinzan told representative of the NR Investments company that the concession contract is abusive and has serious legal problems, noting that it is currently being examined by the prosecution. Subsequently, the issue was discussed at the Supreme Security Council, where representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure and the relevant bodies confirmed that the concession contract is abusive and has serious legality issues, thus blocking the registration of NR Investment Ltd as a new shareholder of Avia Invest.
The government said it will continue to work with law institutions to terminate the concession contract for Chisinau International Airport.
Today the media published information that NR Investments company has fully acquired Komaksavia Airport Invest Ltd, registered in Cyprus, thus indirectly becoming the last effective beneficiary of Avia Invest, with 95% of its shares.
On 19 August, the NR Investments company announced it has acquired 95% of the shares of Avia Invest, which holds the concession right for AIC by contract. Subsequently, the Supreme Security Council met to discuss the transaction. After the meeting, President Igor Dodon announced that according to the information from the specialized structures, the owners of Avia Invest have not changed, and the authorities have blocked the possibility of selling shares of this company.
The airport was granted a concession in 2013 for a period of 49 years.
