European Commissioner to visit Moldovan localities

EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos will spend three days in the Republic of Moldova. The official will visit Bălți, Edineț, Orhei, Ungheni, Cahul and Comrat. At a press conference held in Chișinău, Marta Kos said she is looking forward to meeting Moldovan citizens.

The official explained that the commissioner visits are usually planned for a single day. However, she will spend three days in the Republic of Moldova. During this time, the European commissioner will meet with local officials, business people, students, villagers and city residents. 

'I will meet with your citizens, listen to your people, listen to mayors, local officials, farmers, wine and honey producers, those working in tourism, and students. We will discuss with those who have managed to grow a business with the support of the European Union, such as Agro-Food Center in Ungheni. I want to hear what they expect from Europe, I want to hear their hopes and concerns so that we can achieve unprecedented success in implementing this growth plan,' stated Marta Kos, who in the morning, signed the Growth Plan Agreement for Moldova in Chișinău together with Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

Kos said she wants to talk to people who will benefit from this Growth Plan worth €1.9 billion.

The European commissioner is accompanied by a delegation that includes MEPs Siegfried Mureșan and Daniel Barna, as well as officials from the European Commission. The agenda includes many activities and meetings in various regions of the country.

This is Marta Kos's second visit to the Republic of Moldova since her appointment as European Commissioner.

In the morning, the European delegates participated in the ceremony marking Victory Day over fascism at Eternity Memorial Complex, along with President Maia Sandu, Prime Minister Dorin Recean and Speaker Igor Grosu.
