World War II victims commemorated by Moldovan Prime Minister

Victory against Nazism in World War II is Victory of Peace - peace made possible by the courage and sacrifice of our forebears, as well as the unity shown by the countries of the world in the fight against tyranny, hatred and destruction, according to Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Dorin Recean in the context of today’s commemoration of the World War II victims.

“We commemorate 80 years since the end of the bloodiest war in Europe’s history. We honor the memory of those who fell on the battlefield and thank the veterans who are still among us. We honor their heroism and sacrifice, without which our freedom today would not have been possible,” the prime minister said.

According to the official, peace is not given. It is defended day by day, with voice, with vote, with truth, with solidarity.

“It is our responsibility to keep peace, to protect it, and to pass it on to future generations. Moldova chooses to be part of the Europe of peace where the life and freedom of every person are respected,” Recean said.

This year we mark 80 years since the victory over fascism. On this occasion, Parliament recently adopted a draft law on financial support of 30,000 lei to World War II veterans, in recognition of their sacrifice and dedication.
