The Information System Compulsory Health Insurance (AOAM) registered 74,500 citizens of Moldova with residence in the Transnistrian region, as of December 3, 2025, according to data provided by the National Health Insurance Company.

As many as 61,851 persons of them were insured by the government, including 36,252 children under the age of 18, 2,582 individuals paid the health insurance premium independently and 10,067 people were employed in entities registered in the State Registry of Moldova.

At the end of 2025, 50,421 persons domiciled in the Transnistrian region were registered with family doctors from medical and sanitary institutions providing primary health care in the AOAM system. A number of 29,060 of them were insured persons, while 21,361 were uninsured.

During January 1 - December 31, 2025, according to data from the ePrescription for reimbursed medicines and medical devices information system, 8,283 people from the eastern districts of Moldova benefited from reimbursed medical items, with total payments from AOAM funds amounting to 23.15 million lei.

According to the structure of expenditures for reimbursed medicines and medical devices, the most requested were medicines used in the treatment of chronic diseases with a major impact on population’s health, especially cardiovascular diseases and diabetes mellitus.

At the same time, in 2025, 6,456 hospital cases were treated at 63 hospital care providers, with a total allocated budget of 119.48 million lei. It is noteworthy that special treatment programmes provided interventional cardiology services, locomotor system prosthetics, endovascular surgery, implants and other interventions, all financed from AOAM funds.

Ensuring equal access to essential medical services for all citizens, regardless of their place of residence on the territory of Moldova, including for residents of the left bank of Dniester River and the municipality of Bender, contributes significantly to protecting the health and lives of all individuals, ensuring respect for their right to health and to receive the necessary medical care, as well as fostering the strengthening of social cohesion.
