Moldovan government encourages individual taxpayers to direct 2 per cent of income tax paid on last year’s earnings to non-commercial, non-profit organizations
The government is encouraging individual taxpayers to direct 2 per cent of the income tax paid on last year’s earnings to non-commercial, non-profit organizations – public associations, foundations and private institutions. The percentage designation is not an additional donation, but a reallocation of a portion of the tax already paid to the state. Everyone can decide whom to support – the directed 2 per cent can help a child, a family in need or a cultural, social sports, or religious project.
The procedure requires filling in the Income Tax Return (CET18 form) and entering the tax identification code of the beneficiary organization in the section dedicated to percentage designation.
The tax return can be submitted until April 30. Taxpayers must be resident individuals who got taxable income in Moldova and have no outstanding income tax liabilities for previous tax periods.
Last year, over 45,000 taxpayers made the percentage designation, of which 41,767 were validated. The total amount of funds directed exceeded 19.9 million lei. A total of 1,050 organizations benefited from the 2-per cent Mechanism.
