Moldovan president congratulates new German Federal Chancellor, thanks Angela Merkel
Chisinau, 8 December /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu has sent a congratulatory message to new German Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz, elected by the Bundestag of Germany to this office today. The head of state wished him success and voiced hope for a good cooperation in the long run, just as the relation with Germany has always been, the presidential press service has reported.
At the same time, President Maia Sandu expressed deep gratitude to Angela Merkel, whom she had the honour to know personally. ‘’She is the model Politician, who, in those 16 years in the office of Federal Chancellor, has led her country with wisdom and resolutely, gave the tuning to the European and international policy, as well as managed to be the friend of countries which were in the beginning of the democratic edification, such as Moldova,’’ the head of state said. On behalf of Moldova’s citizens, President Maia Sandu thanked already the former Federal Chancellor ‘’for friendship and for the helping hand which Germany gave us each time in difficult moments, for joint projects developed in Moldovan settlements and for the strong support provided on the European integration way.’’
