Moldovan foreign affairs minister, head of Romanian Senate's foreign policy committee discuss priorities of Moldova’s European path, joint Moldovan-Romanian projects

Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi today had a meeting with Romanian Senator Titus Corlatean, Chair of the Senate’s Foreign Affairs Committee. The two officials discussed Moldova’s goals in the EU accession process, including the opening of all negotiation clusters, as well as the need to capitalize on opportunities to advance the country’s European path.

The officials discussed joint infrastructure and connectivity projects, the development of economic cooperation, attracting investments and strengthening the security and resilience of Moldova.

Deputy PM Mihai Popsoi expressed appreciation for Romania’s constant support and highlighted its important role in promoting reforms and the European integration of Moldova.

“Romania is our main partner and a reliable supporter of Moldova. On the coming period, we are focusing on advancing the EU accession negotiations, developing the economy and implementing projects that bring direct benefits to citizens. We continue to count on Romania’s support to achieve these goals,” Mihai Popsoi emphasized.

Senator Titus Corlatean reconfirmed Romania’s firm support for the European path of Moldova. He stressed that “the Moldovan authorities an continue to count on Romania’s support, both in the process of European integration and in promoting joint development projects.”

The officials also exchanged opinions on regional developments and security challenges, underlining the importance of close cooperation and coordination between the two countries.
