Speaker begins official visit to Czech Republic with meetings focused on cooperation and local development

Speaker Igor Grosu began his official visit to the Czech Republic in the city of Telč, where he was welcomed by the President of the Czech Senate, Miloš Vystrčil. The locality has a special significance for the Czech official, as this is where he started his political career, serving as mayor.

Together with the Mayor of Telč, Vladimír Brtní́k, the two officials discussed the modernization of local communities and the reforms implemented, including those in the field of local public administration. On the first day of the visit, Igor Grosu also travelled to the city of Tábor, where he was received by Mayor Štěpán Pavlík.

The Speaker visited the studio of Moldovan fine artist Teodor Buzu, a personality recognized internationally and laureate of numerous distinctions, including Master of Art title, conferred by the President of the Republic of Moldova.

Teodor Buzu is a member of the Association of Fine Artists of South Bohemia and of the Union of Fine Artists of the Republic of Moldova. At the end of the day, Igor Grosu attended the screening of the film Landmarks from Moldova, directed by Czech filmmaker Petr Voldán.

On this occasion, he handed the director a certificate of appreciation on behalf of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova. The film consists of 13 episodes and is also broadcast by the Czech public television.

Also on the first day of the visit, he held a meeting with the Chair of the Interparliamentary Friendship Group, Irena Ferčíková Konečná. During the discussions, Igor Grosu emphasized that the Republic of Moldova is already in the process of negotiating the first accession cluster to the European Union and expressed his appreciation for the support offered by the Czech Republic, counting further on its assistance for opening the remaining groups of chapters.

The program for the second day of the visit includes several meetings with Czech officials.
