Customs Service, Border Police of Moldova strengthen cooperation through a new collaboration agreement

The cooperation framework between the Customs Service and the General Inspectorate of the Border Police has been strengthened through the signing of a new collaboration agreement, which establishes modern coordination mechanisms for state border management and boost the exchange of information between the two institutions.

The document was signed by Director of the Customs Service Radu Vrabie and  Head of the General Inspectorate of the Border Police Ruslan Galusca, and reconfirms the partnership between the two authorities responsible for border security, facilitating legitimate trade and streamlining cross-border traffic.

“The document provides for deepening cooperation in the field of information exchange, conducting joint activities and operations, organizing training and professional development programmes, as well as promoting coordinated actions aimed at effectively responding to the challenges in the area of integrated border management,” the Customs Service said.

According to the authorities, the new agreement updates and develops existing cooperation tools, in line with technological developments, operational needs and European best practices.

“The agreement aims to strengthen inter-institutional cooperation, by intensifying the exchange of information, coordinating joint activities and developing the institutional capacities of the two authorities. At the same time, it will contribute to increasing the effectiveness of actions, in order to prevent and combat cross-border crime, fraud and other infringements that affect border security,” the Border Police said.

Through the new cooperation framework, the Customs Service and the Border Police aim to optimize border control processes, develop modern risk management mechanisms and make more efficient use of available infrastructure and resources. The institutions will also promote joint initiatives focused on improving the quality of services provided to citizens and the business community.
