Diaspora Forum // Moldova promoted in Switzerland through tourism, investment and exports
Promoting the Republic of Moldova as a tourist and investment destination, as well as expanding exports to the Swiss market are among the main areas of activity of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Moldova in Zurich. The results achieved in the first year and a half of activity were presented by Honorary Consul Valentina Ceban on the sidelines of the Diaspora Forum, held today in Chișinău.
“Moldova was presented as a tourist destination. It was an event that encourages other countries as well to develop cooperation with the National Tourism Office and the National Inbound Tourism Association, because tourism in our country has made very significant progress. Being in Switzerland, I see what this country offers in terms of tourism potential. We cannot compare ourselves, but we are at a very close level. We have what to offer and we have high standards in the field of tourism,” said Valentina Ceban.
Ceban noted that actions have been carried out to strengthen economic relations between the Republic of Moldova and Switzerland. In March of this year, an economic forum was organized, dedicated to presenting investment opportunities in our country.
“We have placed Moldova at another level and have made it known that in Moldova it is possible to invest and there is room for investment. We also have tangible results,” noted the honorary consul, referring to the interest shown by Swiss investors in the opportunities offered by the Republic of Moldova.
At present, efforts are focused on expanding Moldovan exports to the Swiss market, especially dried fruits and nuts, as well as on promoting services in the field of information technologies.
“We are trying to place more dried fruits and nuts on the Swiss market. We also want to promote IT services. These are some of our major and tangible achievements from the first year and a half of activity of the Honorary Consulate,” concluded Valentina Ceban.
The Diaspora Forum brings together in Chișinău over 500 Moldovans settled abroad, as well as representatives of the authorities, the business community and civil society, to discuss ways of strengthening ties between the diaspora and the Republic of Moldova, as well as the diaspora’s contribution to the country’s economic and social development.
