DOC // Strengthening security and cooperation with EU
The implementation program for 2026–2030 of the National Defense Strategy of the Republic of Moldova for the period 2024–2034 was published today in the Official Journal. The document provides for measures to modernize the national defense capacity, integrate the country into the security architecture of the European Union, and strengthen bilateral, regional, and international cooperation in the field of defense and security.
According to the document, by 2030 the Republic of Moldova will have a modernized national defense system, based on professional personnel and capabilities adapted to current security risks. This will contribute to protecting the country’s sovereignty, independence, unity, and territorial integrity, as well as the constitutional order.
The program sets out concrete actions needed to adapt the national defense system to new risks and challenges. Thus, the document aims to strengthen the country’s resilience, consolidate an effective response to hybrid threats, and protect democratic values in a safe environment for citizens.
At the same time, the program provides for increasing the contribution of the Republic of Moldova to regional and international security, including through participation in peacekeeping missions and operations.
The initiative establishes actions to be implemented in a coordinated manner with all state institutions responsible for the field of defense.
The document enters into force on the date of its publication in the Official Journal.
