
Ministry of Defense provided details about incident involving some Moldovan soldiers on KFOR mission
Chisinau, May 30. /MOLDPRES/- The Ministry of Defense came up with clarifications in relation to the information according to which Moldovan soldiers on the KFOR mission were injured during the clashes in northern Kosovo.
According to the Ministry of Defense, to stabilize the situation in the north of the Kosovo region, the subunits of the contingents of the KFOR mission, including that of the National Army, were involved in crowd control actions.
"Following the respective confrontations, two Moldovan soldiers were left with bruises. Both are out of danger, as are all the peacekeepers in the Moldovan contingent. The Moldovan military have returned to their place of permanent deployment and are continuing their missions according to the mandate", the Ministry of Defense announced.
The National Army contingent conducts specific actions in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 1244. The mission of KFOR troops is to ensure the security of all communities in accordance with its mandate established by the Resolution.
The authorities stated that they are in permanent contact with our soldiers from the KFOR-18 contingent in Kosovo.
