Moldova's ministries to present proposals for optimizations in public sector
Ministries and their subordinate agencies will present, by September 20, proposals for optimizations in the public sector. Prime Minister Vasile Tofan made a request to this effect at a today’s cabinet meeting.
The PM emphasized that this was necessary, given that, in some cases, certain functions are duplicated and “many agencies do not have a clearly defined purpose.”
“Optimizations. We have a state that is not very optimized. Many functions are duplicated, many agencies do not have a clearly defined purpose. I believe it would be good to come up with an optimization vision – liquidation of agencies, mergers, elimination of overlapping functions, review of staffing structures,” said Vasile Tofan.
The official requested that the proposals be submitted by September 20.
“I expect optimization proposals from ministries and agencies by September 20. It will be hard to ask people to tighten their belts, if that happens, if we do not do it ourselves first,” said Vasile Tofan.
