Thunderstorm showers, strong winds forecast in Moldova; meteorologists issue yellow code for atmospheric instability in central, southern regions
Meteorologists have issued a Yellow Code warning for atmospheric instability. The advisory is valid today in the central and southern regions of the country, between 12:00 and 23:00.
According to the Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring Authority, on this period there, short-term rain showers accompanied by thunderstorms are expected, locally heavy downpours (15–45 l/m²) and strong wind gusts of up to 15–20 m/s.
In this context, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) recommends that citizens avoid going outdoors while these dangerous weather phenomena occur and remain in safe places.
“It is important that people do not stop or park their cars near trees, billboards or light structures. We recommend that they close windows and secure any objects placed on balconies and terraces. In case of thunderstorms, citizens should avoid touching electrical appliances and seek shelter inside buildings. Likewise, it is important that people do not cross road segments covered with water and avoid moving near rivers and water reservoirs,” IGSU said.
In risky situations, citizens are urged to call the 112 Service.
