President Maia Sandu today had a meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The officials discussed the strengthening of the bilateral cooperation and implementing projects benefiting the citizens of both countries.

The head of state noted that she had discussed with the British Prime Minister the strengthening of the relations between the two countries, attracting British investments, and creating jobs at home, in Moldova.

The Moldovan president highlighted the economic progress, noting that exports of Moldovan fruits to the United Kingdom had significantly increased over the past year. “Our plums, apples and grapes are reaching the tables of more and more Britons, thanks to the removal of tariffs for more Moldovan products,” stressed the head of state.

At the same time, Maia Sandu said that, this week, the governments of the two states had agreed on a new agreement that will allow Moldovans in the United Kingdom exchange their driving licences without additional exams during the first five years of residence, starting from August 1. “This means foreign policy that brings results for people – at home and in the Diaspora,” Maia Sandu also said.
