USA Freedom 250 // Moldovan PM says partnership with USA delivers concrete results for Moldova's citizens
Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu has participated in the opening of the USA Freedom 250 Festival, organized in Chișinău to mark the 250th anniversary of the proclamation of the independence of the United States of America. The event was also dedicated to the 35 years of partnership between Moldova and the USA.
In his speech, the PM emphasized that the bilateral relationship was built on shared values such as freedom, democracy and respect for people.
“Freedom is not just an abstract concept, but an essential choice that must be defended and built day by day,” the prime minister said.
Alexandru Munteanu highlighted the constant support provided by the United States, which has taken shape in concrete projects for citizens: over 100 million dollars has been invested in road infrastructure, with approximately 100 kilometers of roads being modernized.
At the same time, about 130 million dollars was allocated for the construction of the Liberty power line, which will directly connect Moldova to the European energy system through Romania.
The prime minister noted that this partnership contributed to the country’s development and to strengthening energy security, underlining the importance of continuing cooperation with international partners.
“The support provided by the USA over the years has turned into concrete projects for citizens – better roads, more secure energy, modernized schools and hospitals. Freedom remains a choice and a responsibility, which we build day by day together with our partners. Happy Independence Day to the United States of America!” Munteanu said.
The USA Freedom 250 Festival started in Balti on April 22 and continues in Chisinau, before heading to Comrat on April 24. The agenda includes activities for all ages, opportunities to interact with representatives of the U.S. Embassy, screenings of American films and various recreational events dedicated to families.
