Moldova to appoint new ambassadors to Japan and Kazakhstan
The Republic of Moldova will have two new ambassadors. Thus, Sergiu Mihov is to be appointed as our country’s ambassador to Japan, while Igor Moldovan will become the new Ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan. The presidential decrees on appointment were published today in the Official Journal of the Republic of Moldova.
Sergiu Mihov is a career diplomat with over 27 years of experience within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has worked both in the field of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, including at the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Moldova to the Council of Europe. He has held leadership positions within the ministry and has served as Moldova’s ambassador to the Republic of Lithuania. He currently holds the position of Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and has the diplomatic rank of ambassador.
Igor Moldovan is a career diplomat, holds the rank of minister-counsellor and has more than 20 years of experience in the diplomatic service and in the field of law. He has served as deputy head of mission at the embassies of the Republic of Moldova in the State of Israel and Ireland, as well as at the Permanent Representation to the UN Office in Geneva. Within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he has held various positions in the International Law Directorate, and he currently heads the International Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Assistance Section. He holds a degree in law and postgraduate studies in security and European affairs.
The presidential decrees enter into force upon the publication in the Official Journal of the Republic of Moldova.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will ensure the completion of all necessary procedures for the assumption of the mandates.
