Voluntary amalgamation in central Moldova district: six mayoralties merge, to receive 40.8 million lei for development
Six mayoralties from the central Hancesti district have ruled to merge, in order to provide better services to citizens and gain access to more development opportunities. They will benefit from investments of 40.8 million lei, funds provided by the government.
The six mayoralties are Lapusna, Balceana, Boghiceni, Pascani, Pervomaiscoe and Secareni.
Secretary General of the Government Alexei Buzu said that voluntary amalgamation gives communities access to significant financial incentives and creates more efficient administrations, capable of attracting investments and providing quality public services.
“Six mayoralties from the Hancesti district have merged and will receive 40.8 million lei for development. Voluntary amalgamation gives communities access to significant financial incentives and creates more efficient administrations, capable of attracting investments and providing quality public services,” said Alexei Buzu.
According to data presented by the authorities, more than one thousand decisions on voluntary amalgamation have been approved so far, which means that about 70 percent of the country’s mayoralties are involved in this process. The deadline for voluntary amalgamation expires on July 31 and will not be extended. Afterwards, starting in August, the government will launch the process of normative amalgamation. According to the authorities, as of 2027, no mayoralty will manage public affairs for fewer than 3,000 citizens.
