Moldovan National Anticorruption Center's searches at MoldATSA: alleged corruption, abuse of office under investigation

The National Anticorruption Center (CNA) today morning is conducting searches at the state-owned enterprise, MoldATSA, as part of a criminal case concerning alleged acts of corruption and abuse of office. The CNA spokesperson, Ina Volosciuc, has confirmed the information for MOLDPRES.

According to the CNA, criminal investigation actions are ongoing and the institution will later provide more details about the circumstances of the case.

"The National Anticorruption Center is carrying out searches at the state enterprise ‘MoldATSA’. The raids are taking place within a criminal case on alleged acts of corruption and abuse of office,” specified Ina Volosciuc.

For now, the CNA has not provided information about the individuals targeted in the investigation or about the estimated damage.

The state enterprise, MoldATSA, is the national air navigation services provider of Moldova, responsible for managing air traffic and ensuring flight safety.

In late last June, the National Anticorruption Center and the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office carried out more criminal investigation actions at the company’s headquarters in a case concerning alleged acts of abuse of office. The case was followed by resignations. Among those who left their positions were the director of “MoldATSA”, Dumitru Vangheli, the head of the Public Property Agency, Roman Cojuhari, as well as the institution’s spokesperson, Anastasia Taburceanu. In addition, an MP of the Action and Solidarity Party, Radu Marian, announced his resignation as head of the parliamentary commission for economy, budget and finance, after public information emerged that he had recommended Dumitru Vangheli for the position of MoldATSA director.
