European safety standards for passenger ships to be implemented in Moldova
The Parliament of the Republic of Moldova adopted today in the second reading the draft law on safety norms and standards for passenger ships. The initiative was supported by 55 MPs.
The new law transposes into national legislation the provisions of the European Parliament and Council Directive on the safety of passenger ships, thus aligning the Moldovan regulatory framework with European standards in the field.
It establishes strict technical requirements for construction, stability, onboard equipment, fire protection, and rescue systems.
The law will come into effect 18 months after publication in the Official Journal.
