Government spokesperson on yellow rain warning

Government spokesperson Daniel Vodă assured today that in the context of the yellow rain warning announced by meteorologists, all state institutions and emergency services are mobilized and will intervene if necessary.

"All state institutions, for example, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, as well as other services, are mobilized and will intervene if necessary. A very detailed monitoring of the situation in the territory is being carried out, with collaboration between local and central authorities. The situation at this stage is being managed efficiently. We will announce any new developments," emphasized Daniel Vodă.

He mentioned that the rainy period generates unpredictable situations for citizens, and therefore it is important for them to be prepared and follow the authorities' recommendations.

"We hereby issue a government advisory. In case of heavy rains, stay safe, remain indoors or in your vehicle, away from power lines and trees that may fall. Supervise children, avoid water-logged areas, cross streets carefully, and do not cross streets between cars or behind parked vehicles," Daniel Vodă said.

He also emphasized that several traffic accidents were recorded yesterday due to unfavorable weather conditions.

"Therefore, our advice to everyone is to be cautious and patient in traffic during extreme weather conditions. Avoid areas where water accumulation might occur, even if it seems minor. For drivers, reduce speed, maintain car distances, and avoid sudden braking," he said.

At the same time, owners of lakes or water basins are urged to check and monitor the condition of dams and water discharge systems.

Meteorologists issued a Yellow Warning for prolonged rains, valid on 7 -8 October across the country's entire territory. During this period, continuous rains will fall, with accumulated water amounts ranging from 15-49 l/m², occasionally 50-90 l/m².

According to the State Hydrometeorological Service forecast, the intensity of the rains will start to decrease from 9 October with only light, isolated rains expected on 10 October. Temperatures will remain within normal limits for early October, with no sudden changes.

SHS data show that significant amounts of precipitation have accumulated in recent days, especially in the south of the country, but without causing dangerous phenomena such as flash floods or landslides.
