Moldovan Education Ministry launches program for placement of pedagogy graduates: over 1,500 vacant positions, extended benefits for young specialists
The Ministry of Education and Research (MEC), in partnership with the National Institute for Education and Leadership (INEL), has launched the national competition for the placement of graduates from pedagogical faculties and colleges. The announced goal is ambitious: attracting at least 500 young specialists into schools and kindergartens, which would mean an increase of over 20 per cent compared to last year.
According to Minister Dan Perciun, attracting young people into the educational system stays a priority.
"The Ministry of Education stands by young graduates. We want to see you in our schools. We are ready to provide you with all the necessary support. Try, have confidence, realize your dreams – we need you in the education of Moldova," the minister said.
This year, there are 1,586 vacant teaching positions in public general education institutions, most of which being for kindergarten teachers, mathematics, Romanian and physics teachers. Young applicants can benefit from an allowance of 200,000 lei (for bachelor's graduates) or 160,000 lei (for those from colleges), a reduced teaching load – 14 hours per week for teachers and 6 hours per day for kindergarten teachers –, as well as financial support for rent, utilities and teaching materials. An important component of the program is the professional support provided through the National Institute for Education and Leadership. The director of the institution, Viorica Andritchi, emphasized that, besides placement in schools, young specialists would benefit from mentoring and ongoing training.
"Together with the Ministry of Education and Research, with educational directorates and school management teams, we are coming up with a support programme for young specialists. This programme includes both online and physical activities, all centered on the real needs of those stepping into a teaching career. We start during the autumn vacation, with a camp of several days, where young people will create connections, talk with experts and learn how to overcome the first emotions in front of the class," said Viorica Andritchi.
She noted that the programme would continue throughout the year with topic-related webinars and workshops and each young specialist benefits from the support of a certified mentor."These mentors are specially trained to provide insertion and professional development support. They will be alongside young people with encouragement, recommendations and practical examples. At the same time, we already have a lively and active community of young specialists, numbering over 1,000 members. We invite all graduates to join us," added the INEL director.
Young people who have already benefited from the programme say the experience was safe and motivating.
The placement competition is open till June 22. Candidates can register online and the placement will take place on July 1. Subsequent stages will be announced, but the first round is essential for getting the best vacant positions.
