Lands in 11 districts to be expropriated for expansion of national public roads

Several lands located within the perimeters of localities in 11 districts – Hâncești, Leova, Cantemir, Cahul, Comrat, Călărași, Florești, Soroca, Nisporeni, Strășeni, and Ungheni are to be expropriated. A decision in this regard was approved at yesterday's cabinet meeting.

“This will allow for the construction, rehabilitation, and expansion of certain national public roads, including border crossing points. The targeted routes are: R34 Hâncești – Leova – Cahul – Giurgiulești; R1 Chișinău – Ungheni – the border with Romania; M3 Chișinău – Giurgiulești – the border with Romania and Ukraine, as well as other routes,” explains the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development (MIDR).

The project involves the establishment of 77 local commissions, which will manage the process in each locality and will analyze any potential objections from property owners.

The measures aim to eliminate technical and administrative blockages that impede the execution of necessary works and will contribute to ensuring proper maintenance of the national road infrastructure, thus improving road conditions and safety, as well as citizens’ mobility, according to MIDR.
