Tech startups to be eligible for grants up to 2 million lei
Tech startups will be able to benefit from grants of up to two million lei. This opportunity will become available upon the Government's approval of the Support Program for Digital Innovations and Tech Startups for 2025-2030.
The initiative aims to accelerate the development of innovative businesses, stimulate the digital economy, and create well-paid jobs in the country.
The new Program states that startups in the idea or prototype phase (pre-SEED) can benefit from grants up to half a million lei, with a 20% personal contribution. Meanwhile, non-refundable funding for more advanced stage startups (SEED) will range between 700,000 and 2,000,000 lei, with a personal contribution of up to 50%.
Secretary General of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization Ina Voicu said at yesterday's cabinet meeting that an estimated budget of 190 million lei is needed for the implementation of the program for 2025-2030. This will be covered by budget allocations and external sources.
The document expands an initiative of the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development, which has already supported 34 innovative startups, providing grants worth over 14 million lei.
The program approved by the Government is included in the List of Investment Projects of the Republic of Moldova, part of the Economic Growth Plan, and will benefit from the support of the Neighbourhood Investment Platform.
According to statistics, only in 2024, tech companies in the Republic of Moldova generated revenues of over 40 million dollars and created over 1,000 jobs – figures that clearly show the potential of this sector.
