The fifth contingent of carabineers today was deployed to the international mission of the Multinational Peacekeeping Force in Kosovo (KFOR).

For the first time, the contingent includes two women, which confirms that professionalism in such missions has no gender. At the same time, this is the second contingent led by a woman.

“Your participation in this mission has a significance that goes beyond the framework of an operational rotation. It confirms that Moldova is a serious partner that understands the value of international solidarity and the role that its institutions can play in supporting security in a space wider than its own borders,” said Interior Minister Daniella Misail-Nichitin.

The contingent’s commander, Liubovi Luchianciuc, emphasized that its members would take part in this mission with honor.

“We assume this mission with honor and dedication, firmly convinced that we will represent Moldova with dignity, contributing to the promotion of peace, cooperation and the values we share,” she said.

The presence of carabineers in international missions and operations represents an important contribution to maintaining international peace, security and stability, to the observance of the fundamental rights and freedoms and to promoting the rule of law, in accordance with the UN Charter and Moldova’s international commitments.
